Choosing Your No-Code Artillery: LP Builders vs CMS

Why you need flexible tooling

Growth is a product of rapid experimentation, optimisation & creativity. Nowadays, teams can't be dependent on one another if they want to be always iterating, failing fast & uncovering the secret sauce to growth.

It is crucial to break the code barrier between teams. Growth is often slowed down by the difficulty of updating on-site marketing content and structure. This is driven by limited tech resources who have more important (product) work to do. This results in changes taking a long time to get implemented, even for something as simple as a quick new landing page for SEO, or for testing demand for a new MVP.

There are two great ways to combat this, but each has its advantages/disadvantages, so you need to think about which is the best fit for your needs.

CMS

CMSs are often associated with slow load speeds, security risks and clunky interfaces (I'm looking at you Wordpress). However, a new breed called "headless CMS" are here to give you full flexibility around your content model while working well with modern web development approaches like static site generation and single page applications

Advantages and disadvantages of CMS
Recommendation: Our top pick for a CMS is Prisimic. A key strength of Prisimic is the way it handles "slices" or optional content that can take different forms in its interface.

Page Builders

Landing page builders like “Unbounce”, “Leadpages”, or —shudder even “Wix”— are often known for their poorly designed pages. But with the right approach and tool, they can be an incredibly valuable addition to your growth stack

Advantages and disadvantages of Page Builder
Recommendation: One of the best tools out there is Webflow, as it goes beyond most other landing builders out there: The built in CMS is great as it allows you to incorporate dynamic elements on your pages and generate (landing) pages with the same structure but different content at scale. There is also a huge pool of freelance designer talent that can build on this platform for you.

Conclusions

CMS: Prismic is amazing if you need full flexibility over your content model, want to fully decouple content from form and want to consume that content across multiple channels (e.g. mobile app and website)

LP Builder: Webflow is amazing if you have limited tech resources and need the ability to quickly and at low cost create and make structural changes to marketing pages.
